Three teams put their seasons on the line in the regional semifinals and all three came up just short of advancing to the regional final round, leaving only one team left in the state tournament.
Chelsea is the last team standing from the region after Ann Arbor Pioneer, Ann Arbor Greenhills and Ann Arbor Father Gabriel all dropped their regional semifinal matchups on Tuesday.
In Division 1, Pioneer fell 2-1 to Salem. The Pioneers matched Salem with a goal in the second half, but Salem answered with a score with 12 minutes to play and was able to hold off the Pioneers to secure the win.
Greenhills played Allen Park Inter-City Baptist to a 2-2 tie after overtime but fell in penalty kicks, dropping the match 3-2 in a D4 matchup, and Father Gabriel Richard dropped its D3 regional semifinal game 2-1 to Grosse Ile.
Chelsea will look to advance to the regional final when it takes on Fenton at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
